Welcome to Bexar County D.A.R.E. Board !

The Bexar County D.A.R.E. Board of Directors currently serves the citizens of Bexar County  by educating children, educators, parents and many others in drug abuse awareness and alternatives to violence.  D.A.R.E. teaches our children from kindergarten through high school - not only to refuse drugs - but arm them with information that will keep them drug-free.  The solution is education.   D.A.R.E. gives our children the tools they need to resist drugs and make the right choices. D.A.R.E. sends a highly trained police officer into classrooms to teach students how to refuse drugs and alcohol.  By getting the message from a street-wise law enforcement officer - one whose been out there and knows how drugs and alcohol can destroy lives - kids take the message seriously!

The Bexar County D.A.R.E. Board of Directors  had instituted a "Project Partnership" in May of 2003. Local municipalities and school districts work with the Bexar County and allow there existing officers to become certified to teach the D.A.R.E.  curriculums within their respective Communities and/or districts under the Bexar County D.A.R.E.  Program. These volunteer (select) officers are then trained and certified as D.A.R.E.  instructors by the Center for Safe Communities and Schools (CSCS). In addition all officers received through their initial D.A.R.E. training and recurring concurrent annual training additional certification as School Resource Officers (SRO's) and School Safety Officers (SSO's) providing a tangible benefit to their students, Communities, schools and districts. The law enforcement agency and/or school district ends up with a better trained, confident and more professional officer.
