George Little has a total of 37 years of law enforcement experience – he holds a Master Peace Officers license and was instrumental in expanding the
D.A.R.E. program for the San Antonio area. One of his major contributions was implementing his concept of a joint partnership between all law enforcement agencies city and county working together under one united
D.A.R.E. program within Bexar County which subsequently became to be known as “D.A.R.E.
Project Partnership”. His project “D.A.R.E. Partnership” now serves as a model community-based D.A.R.E. coalition program throughout the United States. George Little will be remembered by his
D.A.R.E. colleagues as the “Father of
D.A.R.E. in Bexar County.” His "Commitment to Excellence" was to help our children to make safer, healthier CHOICES for tomorrow – he made a difference!
George is married to his wife Kim of 22-years and together they have raised two sons, who are themselves, seeking higher-education. His youngest son Michael is now an active duty United States Marine serving his country and his oldest son Christopher attends the University of Texas – San Antonio. George retired from the Sheriff’s Office in January 31, 2008 due to an on-duty traffic accident in October 2005 where he was struck by a car while directing traffic on a major Texas Interstate. George was accepted and became the new Director, of the Institute of Criminal Justice Studies (ICJS), Texas State University, San Marcos, where he will continue to teach (his true passion) other law enforcement officers and civilians. George was asked by and will remain on our local Bexar County D.A.R.E. Board of Directors, where he will continue to serve as secretary.
