Sergeant Joshua E. Knotts

Former Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) student from Stahl Elementary School, Northeast I.S.D. makes the cover of “TIME FOR KIDS” Magazine, a subsidiary of Time Magazine.   Sergeant Joshua “Josh” Knotts was assigned to the 1st Calvary Division attached to both the 9th and 12th Calvary Regiments as a Combat Medic, stationed in Iraq.   According to Josh he still remembers the impact his D.A.R.E. Officer-instructor had on him during his elementary school days at Stahl Elementary, Northeast I.S.D., San Antonio, Texas before moving to Portland, Texas.   Josh said he remembered the D.A.R.E. Officer visiting his third grade class and the lessons he received on how drugs could help as well as harm you, saying “No” to offers of illegal drugs, handling conflicts without violence, avoiding gangs and gang violence and the importance of laws and rules to keep us safe.   “I believe in the D.A.R.E. Program and that D.A.R.E. Works!” said Knotts.  Joshua Knotts is presently attending the University of Texas at San Antonio pursuing a degree in Biology as well as a future commission as an Army Officer through the Army R.O.T.C. program.   He is the son of Terry and Janice Knotts currently residing in Killeen, Texas.
