Sergeant Joshua E. Knotts was
recognized by
Sheriff Ralph Lopez for
his work with the local

Abuse
Resistance
Education
(D.A.R.E.) program. Sgt. Knotts has been visiting local area schools as an ambassador for the
Bexar County
D.A.R.E. Program. Knotts a former student from Stahl Elementary School, Northeast
I.S.D. made the cover of “TIME FOR KIDS” Magazine, a subsidiary of Time Magazine the January
19th edition. Sergeant Joshua “Josh” Knotts was assigned to the 1st Calvary Division attached
to both the 9th and 12th Calvary Regiments as a Combat Medic, stationed in Iraq. According to Knotts he still remembers the impact his
D.A.R.E. Officer-instructor had on him during his
elementary school days at Stahl Elementary, before moving to Portland, Texas. Josh said he
remembered the D.A.R.E.
Officer visiting his third grade class and the lessons he received on how
drugs could help as well as harm you, why you should say “NO” to illegal
drug use/abuse and the importance of laws and rules to keep us safe.
Joshua Knotts is presently attending the University of Texas at San Antonio
pursuing a degree in Biology as well as a future commission as an Army
Officer through the Army R.O.T.C. program. He is the son of Terry and
Janice Knotts currently residing in Killeen, Texas.
Sheriff Lopez further
made Sgt. Knotts an “Honorary Deputy Sheriff
for his Community service to the citizens and children of San Antonio and Bexar County. “I believe in the
D.A.R.E. Program and know from personal experience
that D.A.R.E. Works!” Like the Army motto says you (D.A.R.E.) made them strong – Army R.O.T.C.
makes them Army strong” said Knotts.
